Sunday Services

Join us Sunday at 8:00 am or 10:30 am.  The 8:00 am service uses Rite I of the Book of Common Prayer and does not use any sung hymns.  Our 10:30 am service uses Rite II of the Book of Common Prayer and features the Resurrection choir from September to May.  Scheduled Adult Education is held between services beginning at 9:15 am.  Nursery care is available from 10:00 am to 12 Noon.  Children's Chapel is held during the first half of the 10:30 am service for children 10 years old and younger.
Adult Education

Adult Education programs at Resurrection are offered at various times throughout the year and often feature well known and respected educators and theologists either individually or as part of a lecture series.

Children's Chapel

Church of the Resurrection offers Children's Chapel for all children 10 years old and younger. Children's Chapel meets during church through the sermon time of the 10:30 am service. Children return to their families at the Peace.

During Children's Chapel, children hear and/or participate in a story, sing and pray, have a short hands-on activity and end with a snack.   Parents are welcome to be present with their children in Children's Chapel or to let them go on their own. Committed adult volunteers run our Children's Chapel.

Children's Chapel Formation and Beliefs:

  • That God and the child have a unique relationship with one another at each stage of life.

  • That all children need their own place to nurture a relationship with God.

  • That the child's growth is best served through "hands on" materials and open reflection.

  • That art and music are essential parts of spiritual formation

  • That structure and boundaries help children to learn.

  • That times of quiet introspection need to be balanced with times of loud active play.

Music

Music is one of the most important Ministries at Resurrection.  It is through music we worship our heavenly Father and in doing this, we bring ourselves to the holy mysteries of our faith that unites us all.  We worship God through our singing of hymns, found in The Hymnal 1982 and the use of contemporary hymns.

The adult choir at Resurrection sings for the principal Sunday morning service at 10:30 am. The choir also takes part in all principal feast days, such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week and Easter Services. During the summer months beginning the Sunday after the Day of Pentecost, the music program of the church assumes a relaxed mode in that local musical groups and ensembles located in the Kansas City area are invited to join in our service and share their musical talents. The choir continues its role in leading the sung portions of the service, but in place of an offertory anthem, members of the choir join together in singing duets, trios. Rehearsal is held on Wednesday evening beginning at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm and again on Sunday morning from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. The choir does not rehearse on Wednesday evenings during the summer months. The personnel of the choir are volunteers who are talented, dedicated and enthusiastic people who give of their time on a consistent basis. If you are interested in joining our choir, please contact Vaughn Scarcliff.

Daughters of the King

Church of the Resurrection maintains a chapter of The Order of the Daughters of the King®, an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the historic episcopate but not in communion with it.

Reaffirming the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism. She receives support in this commitment from a worldwide community of like-minded women in solidarity with one another.
